Dear All,

You will recall that a lot of the principles that went behind the building of the Village took into account the deliberations of the Cabinet that were published in 2002 under the heading 'Game Plan - a Strategy for Delivering the Government's Sport and Physical Activity Objectives'.  I have attached a copy of the Executive Summary to remind you of the salient features of that report.

Very recently our new Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, James Purnell MP delivered a major speech, which was reported on rather adversely in the Observer.  We have therefore included the whole speech for your information and as always, for you to make your own mind up.

Hopefully the conclusion you will come to is that the Village has been built and will be run along the values expressed in both documents.
