Happy Anniversary
Perhaps I am just being nostalgic or even a
little sentimental, but I thought it worthy of pointing out that
our website is three years old today.
Firstly, I would like to thank Paul Whitworth from PIC360 for
initially having created the site and then having spent many
hours updating it free of charge. As you can see the site is of
a very high standard and it is to Paul’s professionalism that we
owe a huge debt of gratitude.
As you can see, the site is owned by Inter Force Assistance Ltd.
which is my security consultancy company. As Chair of the Leigh
and District Sports Partnership and with Paul’s help and your
support, we have kept the site independent of the developers,
the Council and all the other statutory organisations that are
now involved in a very big partnership.
Eventually, when the Leigh Sports Trust is formed, the site will
belong to the Trust and be subject of an upgrade and restyle –
the old site will be available in an archive section.
I hope that you agree that we have tried to be independent, open
and honest. We have tried to keep you informed as to this
fantastic development for our area. We would really like to
thank you for your input to the polls. The various suggestions
that you have made have religiously referred back to the right
quarters to influence the design and roll out of the Village.
As a matter of interest, we have placed over 80 articles on the
site, varying in length from full planning applications to
relatively small updates like this one.
We have had over 56,000 visits to the site and many of them are
first-time viewers. I have received e-mails from all over the
world, many of which I have replied to personally but on your
collective behalf.
We would like to thank our friends on the Leigh Rugby League
site and the Leythers Forum for their interest and support.
We still have one or two innovative ideas in the melting pot to
keep the new site fresh and appealing but, if there is anything
you would like to suggest we will consider it.
Yours in sport,
Trevor Barton
