Leigh Sports Village has a vacancy for a Full Time Safety & Security Officer/Part Time Safety Officer (salary £25,500 all inclusive & pro rata)

Leigh Sports Village is a pioneering multi-sector development and is the biggest investment in public sports, recreation and education facilities in the Wigan Borough for many years and has transformed Leigh into one of the finest hubs of activity in the North West.

The Village provides state of the art facilities for sport, education, physical activity, health, leisure and culture and serves the local community and the region as a whole and includes; sports arena and floodlit artificial and grass sports pitches, athletics stadium and covered sprinting area, indoor sports centre and swimming pool, sixth form college, high quality hotel, retail outlets and an 12,000 capacity stadium.

The 12,000 capacity stadium is a muti-million pound facility with state of the art high quality facilities and is the home for Leigh Centurions RLC, both Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers U21’s sides. The Stadium also hosts a number of other events and has recently hosted Rugby League Challenge Cup Semi Finals. Elton John has also performed at the Stadium in the summer of 2014.

Leigh Sports Village Company is looking to appoint either a full-time Safety & Security Officer who will be responsible for ensuring the safety of staff and visitors to the Sports Village on both match day and non match day in accordance with the Safety Certificate, Safety Policy Statement and Health and Safety Policy or a part time Safety Officer who will be responsible for the match day elements of the role.

The successful candidate must possess a certificate in Spectator Safety Management or alternatively demonstrate an equivalent level of skills and experience (it will be a requirement of the post to gain the relevant qualification as part of your on going training), be fully conversant with the requirements of the ‘Green Guide’ to Safety at Sports Grounds, have a sound knowledge of health and safety legislation and policy and have previous experience within a similar role.

You will need to be highly motivated, possess excellent communication and people skills, be able to work under your own initiative and also as a member of a team.
