Schools out for summer! Looking for ways to keep the children active, entertained and engaged? Leigh Sports Village has a fantastic line up of activities and events for families throughout the school holidays.
Summer School Holiday Sports Camps
New for 2026, Leigh Sports Hub (home of Leigh East ARLFC) has partnered with Leigh Leisure Centre to deliver an exciting programme of Summer Sports Camps throughout August.
Designed for children aged 5–12 years, the camps offer a variety of activities across the 3G pitches, sports hall and swimming pool, providing a fun and engaging experience during the school holidays. The camps will run every Tuesday to Friday throughout August 2026, from 8:30am to 4:30pm, at a cost of £18 per child, per day.

Bookings should be made via the Gladstone Go website:
- Visit Activity Search – Book | GladstoneGo
- From the drop-down menu, select Leigh Leisure Centre
- Then select Active Camps.
- Choose the required date(s) and click Search.
- Select your chosen session and click Book Now.
- If you do not already have an account, you will be prompted to create one before completing your booking.
National Playday at Pennington Flash
Pennington Flash is proud to be the return host of this year’s National Playday on Wednesday 5 August 2026, from 10:00am to 3:00pm. This year celebrates the importance of activities for children to be able to express their creativity and to be able to play. This is a free event with no booking required, simply turn up and enjoy the fun!
Families are invited to join us for a day dedicated to play, creativity and outdoor fun, with a wide range of activities available for children and young people to enjoy. The event will feature games, arts and crafts, interactive activities and much more, delivered by local organisations from across the community. Our very own Leigh Youth Hub and Leigh Sports Hub will be there running activities for all to enjoy.
Game On Parties:
Outdoor sports. Indoor gaming. One unforgettable party.
What’s not to love? Leigh Sports Hub and Leigh Youth Hub (at LSV) offer Game On parties, providing the perfect way to celebrate your child’s special occasion. Enjoy one hour of sports activities and games on our 3G pitches, followed by 90 minutes of leisure and indoor gaming activities in Leigh Youth Hub’s Common Room. Party hosts are also able to access the facilities early to set up decorations of their choice before guests arrive.
Party packages start from £195 for up to 16 children. Additional children can be added to the booking at a cost of £8 per child, with a maximum capacity of 26 children, perfect to invite all the family. Parties are available every Saturday and selected Sundays, subject to availability. Cheer on the Leigh Leopards
Join the Leigh Leopards for the second half of the 2026 Super League season, with five of their final seven league fixtures taking place at Leigh Sports Village. With a fantastic family friendly atmosphere and some of the most exciting rugby league action in the competition, a Leopards matchday is the perfect entertainment for all ages. Upcoming home fixtures include:

Viking Festival Pennington Flash:
New for 2026: Step back in time and experience the age of warriors as Ydalir Vikings bring history to life with an immersive weekend of family friendly activities, live demonstrations and interactive experiences. Visitors can explore authentic Viking camps, enjoy live re-enactments and combat displays, take part in archery workshops, discover traditional heritage crafts and browse a range of market stalls. The event will also feature family entertainment and the opportunity to experience longboat sailings.
Whether you’re a history enthusiast or simply looking for a fun family day out, The Great Viking Gathering promises an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages. No booking is required, simply turn up! Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th August 10am-4pm (August bank holiday weekend)
Open Access Sessions at Leigh Youth Hub
Leigh Youth Hub offers a range of free open access sessions each week for young people. Taking place every Thursday and Friday from 4:30pm to 6:30pm (Year 7-9) 6:30pm- 8:30pm (Year 10+), these sessions provide a safe, welcoming space where young people can socialise, learn new skills and take part in activities that interest them. There is something for everyone, including cooking sessions in the kitchen, arts and crafts, gaming and activities in the Common Room, and access to the gym throughout the session. Young people can also enjoy our MUGA Friday sports sessions from 6:00pm to 7:00pm and dedicated music sessions on Thursday evenings.
Whether you’re looking to get out the house or to make new friends, Leigh Youth Hub’s Open Access Sessions offer a fun and supportive environment for all. No booking is required, just come along. This summer, Year 6’s about to move into Year 7 can also come along to these group sessions to try them out.
