Leigh Sports Village Host BBC Make A Difference Awards

Leigh Sports Village is proud to have hosted the BBC Make a Difference Awards, celebrating local individuals, groups and organisations making a positive impact across Greater Manchester.

On Monday 14th September, Leigh Sports Village featured in a special four hour broadcast with BBC Radio Manchester, announcing that the BBC Make A Difference Awards Ceremony would be taking place at LSV. The broadcast provided a fantastic opportunity to showcase the incredible work carried out by the many teams and services that make Leigh Sports Village such a special place within the community.
Representatives from Leigh Sports Village, Leigh Youth Hub, The Hide Coffee House, Pennington Flash, ET7 Academy, Leigh East ARLFC and Wigan Council joined the breakfast show to discuss the positive impact their services have across Leigh and the wider borough.

The BBC Make A Difference Awards

The BBC Make A Difference Awards were created to recognise and celebrate the everyday heroes whose efforts often go unnoticed. The awards honour individuals, community groups and organisations who go above and beyond to make a lasting difference within their local communities.

Following the success of BBC Local Radio’s Make A Difference campaign in 2020, the BBC launched the Make A Difference Awards, which are now in their fifth year. Since then, the awards have become a highly regarded celebration of community spirit, highlighting inspirational stories from across the country. Winners are often featured across BBC Local Radio, BBC online platforms and social media channels, with some stories also reaching national audiences.

Each BBC Local Radio station hosts its own regional awards ceremony, and this year Leigh Sports Village was selected to host the BBC Radio Manchester event. It is a huge privilege for Team LSV to welcome finalists, guests and community champions from across Greater Manchester for this prestigious occasion, with the event being a huge success for all involved.
