What happens at Leigh Sports Village?

At the centre of Leigh Sports Village is a 12,000-capacity stadium, home to Leigh Leopards, Manchester United Women, and Manchester United U21s. Beyond sports, the stadium serves as a vibrant venue for conferences, events, and weddings. The complex also includes the Leigh Sports Village Arena, featuring nine artificial pitches, a grass pitch, and a multi-use games area (MUGA), along with the Leigh Youth Hub, which has significantly enhanced provision for the local community. Additional facilities within the village include the Leigh Harriers Athletics track and stadium, Leigh Indoor Sports Centre, Wigan and Leigh College, Holiday Inn Express, Morrisons supermarket, and the Whistling Wren pub but to name a few.

Reception is open from 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday subject to business demands.

Are there any parking charges at Leigh Sports Village?

We provide limited parking onsite which is complimentary. Please see the onsite car parking map on our Plan Your Visit page

The Morrison’s car park operates on ANPR with a maximum stay time of 90 minutes.

Is there accessible parking at Leigh Sports Village?

Yes, we have accessible parking. Please call 01942 487 830 to discuss access arrangements for events in the stadium. Parking is available on a first come, first served basis to blue badge holders with no advance bookings for these bays.

How do I organise a matchday shoutout or birthday announcement?

For matchday announcements and shoutouts for both Leigh Leopards and Manchester United matches, you will nee to contact the respective clubs to organise this in advance of the fixture.

What can I bring into the ground on matchday?

No food and drink is allowed to be brought in to the stadium. Concourse kiosks open an hour before kick-off and offer a range of hot and cold food and beverages via card payment only.

The following articles must also not be brought within the ground:

  • golfing umbrellas
  • knives
  • fireworks
  • smoke canisters
  • air-horns
  • flares
  • weapons
  • dangerous or hazardous items
  • laser devices
  • bottles
  • glass vessels
  • cans
  • poles
  • any article that might be used as a weapon and/or compromise public safety. 
  • Flags are only permitted with a fire safety certificate. 

Any person in possession of such items will be refused entry to the ground.

Can I leave my bag at the stadium?

We don’t have a bag drop at the stadium, but we have an arrangement with the Holiday Inn Express on site that bags can be left there. This is at the manager’s discretion and if they are busy, they may not be able to store it for you.

Is smoking allowed? Are e-cigarettes prohibited?

Smoking and the use of e-cigarettes are strictly prohibited at Leigh Sports Village. During match-day events at the stadium, re-entry for smoking is not allowed.

What time are turnstiles open on matchday?

One hour before kick-off for Manchester United matches and two hours before for Leigh Leopards Games.

At what age can children attend without an accompanying adult?

Under 12s must be accompanied by an adult.

When are the exercise classes at the Indoor Sports Centre?

Are prams and scooters allowed on site?

Yes – they must be signed into the stadium and are left at your own risk.
