The original partnership ethos has grown from strength to strength and there is a real spirit of collaboration between all key partners of the Village.

Leigh Centurions Rugby League Club

Established in 1895, Leigh Centurions is one of the founding rugby league clubs. The club is based at Leigh Sports Village and plays its home matches in the stadium in the Kingstone Press Championship.

The Centurions have a rich history, achieving a number of honours, including winning two Challenge Cups and are current holders of the Northern Rail Cup.

Leigh Harriers

Leigh Harriers Athletics Club was formed in September 1909 and has an unbroken record of providing athletics for all the community.

In 2006 the club achieved Community Amateur Sports Club status and also became one of only four clubs in the Greater Manchester area to be awarded Club Mark Accreditation and was reaffirmed in 2013.

The Club’s home is on the Leigh Sports Village site, a top class facility with an excellent  athletics track. Current athletes have represented Great Britain, England, Northern Counties, Greater Manchester, Wigan Borough, and Wigan Schools.

The club accepts children for training from the under 11 age group (9+ years old) and competes in all ages track and field, road racing, cross country, and fell running, supporting all National, Regional, County, and local competitions.

Wigan and Leigh College

Located on the Leigh Sports Village site, Leigh College acts as a hub for both students and the local community.

Leigh College is the newest of Wigan and Leigh College’s five centres, built in 2007 and offers a wide range of full-time courses. Being one of the first parts of the Leigh Sports Village site to be commissioned, the College has been an integral part of the £83m development from the start.

Covering three floors, this modern and well-resourced Centre provides a warm and friendly environment for students to complete their studies.

Indoor Sports Centre (WLCT)

Run by WLCT, Leigh Indoor Sports Centre contains some of the finest indoor sports facilities in the Borough, with 25m swimming pool and spectator seating for 180, sports hall consisting of 8 badminton courts, 2 basketball courts, 2 netball courts and retractable seating for 280, health & fitness centre and aerobics studio.

The sports centre also holds numerous events throughout the year, including shows, fairs and sporting events.

The Whistling Wren pub is situated on the entrance to the Leigh Sports Village site.
