The stadium is a multi-million pound complex with state of the art high quality facilities and is the home for Leigh Centurions, Manchester United Women and Manchester United U23s. The Stadium also hosts a number of events which have included rugby league international matches, Championship Finals Day, and was a venue for the Rugby League World Cup 2013. Elton John and Lionel Richie have also both performed hugely successful concerts.

Leigh Sports Village is a host venue for the UEFA Women’s Euro 2021 and the Rugby League World Cup 2021.

Business Development Manager (circa £40k)

In 2021, Leigh Sports Village is delighted to be hosting two major international tournaments at the stadium, as we stage multiple matches in both the UEFA Women’s Euros and the Rugby League World Cup.

To deliver and capitalise on these high-profile events, we are seeking to strengthen our executive leadership team by recruiting a proven Business Development Manager. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you will play a key role in the organisation and delivery of the UEFA Women’s Euros and Rugby League World Cup as well as explore the business, commercial and sponsorship possibilities for Leigh Sports Village as a whole.

It is crucial for this strategic role to interface between the project team delivering the tournaments and the business functions of Leigh Sports Village.

This is a unique opportunity to support the delivery of some of the biggest sporting occasions of this decade — and just as importantly leaving a legacy for the Sports Village for future years.

It is essential that applicants possess a relevant management qualification.

Safety & Security Officer (Full time, salary negotiable)

 

Leigh Sports Village is a pioneering multi-sector development and is the biggest investment in public sports, recreation and education facilities in the Wigan Borough for many years and has transformed Leigh into one of the finest hubs of activity in the North West.

The Village provides state of the art facilities for sport, education, physical activity, health, leisure and culture and serves the local community and the region as a whole and includes; sports arena and floodlit 3G artificial and grass sports pitches, athletics stadium and covered sprinting area, sports centre and swimming pool, sixth form college, high quality hotel, retail outlets, pub and a 12,000-capacity stadium.

The 12,000-capacity stadium is a multi-million-pound facility with state-of-the-art high-quality facilities and is the home for Leigh Centurions RLC and both Manchester United U23’s and Women’s teams. The stadium also hosts a number of other events including international sports fixtures and pop concerts and is to host a number of matches in both the Rugby League World Cup and UEFA Women’s Euros in 2021.

Leigh Sports Village Company is looking to appoint a full-time Safety & Security Officer who will be responsible for ensuring the safety of staff and visitors to the Sports Village on both match day and non-match day in accordance with the Safety Certificate, Safety Policy Statement and Health and Safety Policy.

The successful candidate will also be expected to cover in the absence of the Operations Director, and it is essential that you have previously operated at a senior level.

The successful candidate must also possess a NVQ Level 4 in Spectator Safety Management or alternatively demonstrate an equivalent level of skills and experience (it is a requirement of the post to gain this qualification as part of your ongoing training), be fully conversant with the requirements of the ‘Green Guide’ to Safety at Sports Grounds and have a sound knowledge of health and safety legislation and policy along with experience within a similar role.

You will need to be highly motivated, have excellent communication and people skills, be able to work under your own initiative and also part of a team.

The position will include bank holiday, evening and weekend work.
