Leigh Sports Village provides state of the art facilities for sport, education, physical activity, health, leisure and culture and serves the local community and the region as a whole, and includes: sports pavilion and floodlit grass and 3G artificial sports pitches, athletics stadium, sports centre, sixth-form college, high quality hotel, retail outlets, bars, restaurants and a 12,000 capacity stadium.

The stadium is a multi-million pound complex with state of the art high quality facilities and is the home for Leigh Centurions, Manchester United Women and Manchester United U23s. The Stadium also hosts a number of events which have included rugby league international matches, Championship Finals Day, and was a venue for the Rugby League World Cup 2013. Elton John and Lionel Richie have also both performed hugely successful concerts.

Leigh Sports Village was a host venue for the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 and the Rugby League World Cup 2021.

Operations Director

Salary Guide: £57K
(dependent upon qualifications & experience)

We are looking for a committed individual with a passion for sports stadia, leisure, culture and the events industry with the drive to make a real difference. As Operations Director you will join our Senior Leadership Team reporting directly to the Managing Director.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the stadium and oversee the effective operation of the Leigh Sports Village complex and facilities under the direct management of Leigh Sports Village company, including management responsibilities at Pennington Flash Nature Reserve. You will provide leadership for a variety of operational teams including; safety management on both matchdays and non-matchdays, grounds and pitch maintenance, facilities management, ensuring compliance of the General Safely Certificate.
Effective partnership working with key stake holders and organisations will be an essential part of the role.
As part of the Senior Leadership Team you will support the development, implementation of the LSV business plan, ensuring effective management of financial budgets and resources.
You will need to be proactive, organised and be able to work to deadlines and be accountable for your work. You must be operations focused and have a strategic vision on how you can take the business to the next level.
Several years’ experience, and a proven track record of success in a similar role along with experience in the stadia/leisure/events sector are essential.
You must have flexible working pattern to fit in with the needs of the business which will include working event and matchdays.
If the successful candidate does not already hold an NVQ Level 4 in Spectator Safety Management (it is a requirement of the post to gain this qualification as part of your ongoing training).

Safety Officer (Full-time)

Salary – £38,000

Leigh Sports Village is seeking a full-time Safety & Security Officer to work alongside the existing safety team, ensuring the safety of staff and visitors to the Sports Village on both match day and non-match day in accordance with the General Safety Certificate, Safety Policy Statement and Health and Safety Policy.

The successful candidate must possess a NVQ Level 4 in Spectator Safety Management or alternatively demonstrate an equivalent level of skills and experience (it is a requirement of the post to gain this qualification as part of your ongoing training), be fully conversant with the requirements of the ‘Green Guide’ to Safety at Sports Grounds and have a sound knowledge of health and safety legislation and policy, including but not limited to:

• HASAW 1974
• SIA 2001
• Licensing Act 2003
• Occupiers Liability 1957 & 1984
• CDM 2015

You will need to be highly motivated, have excellent communication and people skills, be able to work under your own initiative and also as part of a team.

The position will include bank holiday, evening and weekend work.

Events Sales Executive

Salary £26,000, subject to experience

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Event Sales Executive to join our sales team. We are looking for a motivated & enthusiastic individual who can demonstrate excellent customer service skills. You will be tasked to professionally manage and coordinate a variety of events, therefore exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills are required.

Your key responsibilities, will be: –

• Effectively coordinate all matchday and non-matchday bookings and communicate in an orderly manner through to the Operations team
• Responsible for the co-ordination and drive sales for weddings/Xmas and assist with conference bookings as part of the sales team
• Deliver show rounds in a professional yet memorable manner
• Be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends where the required
• Provide support within the sales office, to ensure all systems and processes are maintained and adhered to
• Provide excellent communication, attention to deal and organisation skills
• Research for new business opportunities for off peak dates
• Support with the preparations for fan zones on match days
• The successful candidate will support the Commercial Sales Director to hit monthly targets and achieve the budget.

The successful applicant will need to have experience within a similar role/environment, full understanding of social media/marketing channels and hold Maths and English GCSE (A-C grade or equivalent). You must be able to work well in a team, working using your own initiative and provide a flexible working pattern that meets the needs of the business.

Holidays: – 20 days, plus bank holidays
