February has been a standout month for Leigh Sports Village with exceptional performances across rugby league, women’s football and for athletics star, Keely Hodgkinson.

Leigh Leopards Start the Super League Strong!

The Leigh Leopards made a brilliant return to LSV for their first home match of the 2026 rugby league season, securing an impressive victory over Leeds Rhinos. The Greatest Show in Super League returned with a fantastic display of C02 cannons, Lasers, pyrotechnics and this year’s new addition: holograms.

This winning start by the Leopards’ has set an exciting tone for the months ahead at LSV. Leigh Leopards’ success reflects the strength and spirit of rugby league within our community and continues to inspire rugby league clubs around the borough, including our very own Leigh East ARLFC. We wish them all the best for the rest of their season ahead.

Manchester United Women Advance to the UEFA Women’s Champions League Quarter Finals

February was a phenomenal month for Manchester United Women, who delivered back-to-back wins against Atlético Madrid Women, both home and away. These combined victories mean the team progress to the quarter finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League, a major milestone and a proud moment for everyone involved at LSV, given its Manchester United Women’s first time as a team in the Champions League this becomes even more special.

Their performances continue to enhance the growing profile of women’s football in the region and inspire the next generation of athletes who train and play at our facilities.

Keely Hodgkinson Sets World Record in France

The month’s achievements reached a new level last night when Keely Hodgkinson, representing her home youth club Leigh Harriers Athletics Club, set a new world record in the Women’s Indoor 800m in France. This extraordinary accomplishment not only cements Keely’s status as one of the world’s leading athletes in track racing but also shines a spotlight on the incredible talent associated with LSV. Her success brings further legacy and pride to the entire Leigh community.
