Three more top European football teams will be playing at Leigh Sports Village this season as Manchester United U19s announced their UEFA Youth League group stage fixtures.

United’s young stars will take on FC Basel of Switzerland, Portugal’s Benfica and Russia’s CSKA Moscow in a tournament often dubbed the ‘baby Champions League’. And once again, the games will be absolutely free.

The UEFA Youth League’s group stages mirror those of the Champions League, with Manchester United’s U19s playing on the afternoon of the senior side’s fixture. Which means that the action at Leigh Sports Village kicks off on Tuesday September 12 at 3pm, when FC Basel are the visitors.

The Swiss team will be a good test for United’s U19s after beating Arsenal on the way to the knockout stages of last year’s competition.

United will then welcome Benfica – UEFA Youth League semi-finalists last year – on Tuesday October 31st (3pm) and round off their home group games on Tuesday December 5th with the visit of CSKA Moscow.

It’s a busy schedule of free football at Leigh Sports Village this autumn, with 11 Premier League 2, Premier League International Cup and UEFA Youth League games before Christmas – the next big match being Manchester United vs Arsenal on Friday September 8th (7pm).
