Leigh Sports Village is a pioneering multi-sector development and is the biggest investment in public sports, recreation and education facilities in the Wigan Borough for many years and has transformed Leigh into one of the finest hubs of activity in the North West.
The Village provides state of the art facilities for sport, education, physical activity, health, leisure and culture and serves the local community and the region as a whole and includes; sports arena and floodlit 3G artificial and grass sports pitches, athletics stadium and covered sprinting area, sports centre and swimming pool, sixth form college, high quality hotel, retail outlets, pub and a 12,000-capacity stadium.
The 12,000-capacity stadium is a multi-million-pound facility with state-of-the-art high-quality facilities and is the home for Leigh Centurions RLFC and both Manchester United U23’s and Women’s teams. The stadium also hosts a number of other events including international sports fixtures and pop concerts and is a venue for a number of matches in UEFA Women’s Euros in 2022.
Leigh Sports Village Company is looking to appoint a full-time Deputy Safety Officer to deputise and assist the Safety & Security Officer, ensuring the safety of staff and visitors to the Sports Village on both match day and non-match day in accordance with the General Safety Certificate, Safety Policy Statement and Health and Safety Policy.
The successful candidate must possess a NVQ Level 4 in Spectator Safety Management or alternatively demonstrate an equivalent level of skills and experience (it is a requirement of the post to gain this qualification as part of your ongoing training), be fully conversant with the requirements of the ‘Green Guide’ to Safety at Sports Grounds and have a sound knowledge of health and safety legislation and policy.
You will need to be highly motivated, have excellent communication and people skills, be able to work under your own initiative and also as part of a team.
The position will include bank holiday, evening and weekend work.
